At Dutchess, we believe clothing should not only look beautiful but also feel good and last longer than just a single season. Good for you, for the people who make it, and for the world we live in. That’s why sustainability is at the heart of everything we do – from design to production, and every step in between. For over 15 years, our collections have been produced in small ateliers in Portugal. These workshops are more than just manufacturers; they are long-term partners with whom we’ve built a sustainable and trusted relationship. By visiting them regularly, we know exactly who makes our garments and under what conditions. We believe it’s important that everyone who works on Dutchess pieces feels proud of what they create. That’s why we are committed to fair wages, safe working conditions, and ateliers where craftsmanship and respect go hand in hand. We believe in slow fashion: a conscious and responsible way of working, with a focus on quality and timeless design. Instead of mass production, we produce on order. This means we make what’s needed – no more, no less. By doing so, we prevent overproduction and unnecessary waste, keeping our environmental impact to a minimum. At Dutchess, we carefully select high-quality materials designed to last. Whenever possible, we use eco-certified fabrics, such as organic cotton and sustainably sourced viscose. Many of our fabrics carry the OEKO-TEX® label, ensuring they are free from harmful substances. This allows us to create garments that are not only beautiful but also responsibly made.
